Contra Costa College
Contra Costa College is located in San Pablo, California. It is part of the Contra Costa Community College District. There are three college systems within the state of California and Contra Costa College functions as part of the community colleges system. The college was founded in 1950 with a temporary location in Richmond, CA in the Kaiser Shipyards. The current campus on Mission Bell Drive in downtown San Pablo opened in 1957.

Contra Costa College offers many notable programs. The first of these includes the Center for Science Excellence. This center functions to increase the participation in the field of science for all minorities. The second notable program at Contra Costa College is the High-Performance Computing Center. This is a center with a pioneering program whose focus is teaching computer clustering. The third notable program at Contra Costa College is the Advocate. This is a weekly newspaper for the college, nationally honored. The paper has won over eleven National Newspaper Pacemaker Awards since the year 1990. The college also has one the top Speech and Debate Teams in the nation.
