Truman State University
Truman State University is a public liberal arts and sciences university in Missouri, United States and a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. About 6,000 students attend Truman, pursuing degrees in 43 undergraduate and 9 Graduate programs. It is located in Kirksville in northeastern Missouri and named after President Harry Truman, the only President born in the state. Until 1996, the school was known as Northeast Missouri State University when the name was changed to better reflect their statewide mission. In the 2012 U.S. News & World Report, Truman was again ranked 8th in the Midwest among regional universities, the highest ranking in this category for a school in Missouri .Notwithstanding its 74% acceptance rate, Truman State is the only public institution in the state officially designated to have highly selective admissions standards.
